It's likely that the video sync issues are related to the inefficiency of our current caption display algorithm, so I've linked these two issues together.

These two seem to be directly related. Since I can't even play the videos on Firefox 3.5 on my machine, the sync issue is moot. But if I re-encode the Ogg videos, playback works and captions appear to be correctly in sync.

This issue was resolved by re-encoding the Ogg Theora versions of the final report screencasts using a Firefogg instead of whatever buggy tool we used first. These videos have been uploaded to the Final Report 2009 site and seem to be looking good.

Jess can you confirm that this issue is addressed and close the issue if you're satisfied?

indeed it is working – Thanks for the fix!
