'screenshot-1' shows the persistant warning message even after another portlet has been picked up and is displaying the warning message

'screenshot-2' shows the same thing as 'screenshot-1' but in the uPortal example

    I can't reproduce this bug in either FF3/Mac, IE7/XP or IE6/XP

Can you give more info about how to reproduce?

It only occurs in Opera 9.5 on Win XP

In Opera, the portlet that is 'being moved' gets a blur after the move attempt (whether the move was successful or not). Because of this, the ctrl-key up, which should cause the warning to disappear, is not received.

So why is the blur happening?
(this causes other problems with any flavour of Reorderer: as soon as you move anything, focus is lost, so you can't continue to move it, you can't arrow to another portlet, etc.)

I've looked at Antranig's commit (r5669) and it looks good to me.
